On the Christian Door-Buster

I get it, but I’m a bit uncomfortable when religious retailers, such as Christian bookstores, use the term, “Doorbuster”. The image of God-fearing men, women and children lining up and shoving each other out of the way to get a Duck Dynasty Study Bible is probably not the image we need to aspire to.

I guess it’s better than what could have been. Here are some potentially worse taglines Christian retailers could have used for the holiday shopping season:

  • “Prices so low, it’ll save your soul!”
  • “Jesus saves, and you can too!”
  • “Blessed are the early birds, for they will save BIG $$$$!”
  • “It would be a SIN to miss these deals! But Jesus DIED for your sins, so…do whatever you want.”
  • “Love thy neighbor as thyself. And get both of thine-selves the new Max Lucado Devotional!”
  • “Seek first the Kingdom . . . seek second some cRaZy deals!”
  • “Who’ve got fourteen thumbs and dirt cheap CS Lewis? These guys!”
  • “Lowest prices on Church of Christ praise music. Hands Down.”
  • “An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. And a buck for Creflo Dollar!”
  • “*Use coupon code ‘ThouShaltSave’ for an extra 10% off!”
